Biography

Arthur Cadieux was born in 1943 in Belfast, Maine, and he grew up in Massachusetts. He studied art at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, where he received a BFA, and he received his MFA from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., in 1971. He taught painting at South Dakota State University, Brookings, S.D., Thomas Jefferson College, in Allendale, Mich., and taught figure drawing at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, Maine, and he has traveled throughout the country, residing in New York City, South Dakota, Michigan, Maine, Washington, DC, Virginia, and North Carolina. He was director of the Maine Coast Artist Gallery in Rockport, Maine. He currently lives and paints in the artistic community of Eastport, Maine. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Tides Institute and Museum of Art in Eastport, Maine. His work, with its strong brushstrokes and vibrant colors, has found an active following in Downeast Maine.
